What's the difference between Nearby and Network sessions?

Nearby (Bluetooth): Works without internet, great for people in the same room. Lower latency and more reliable sync. Requires Bluetooth permissions.

Share Clip

What is Share Clip?

Share Clip lets you share a specific segment of a podcast episode with others. Instead of sharing an entire episode, you can share just the interesting part - perfect for sharing a funny moment, insightful quote, or key discussion point.

How do I create and share a clip?

While listening to an episode, tap the three-dot menu on the player page and select "Share Clip". Choose the clip duration (15 seconds to 2 minutes), optionally add a title, then tap "Share Clip". You can preview the clip before sharing to make sure you've captured the right moment.

What happens when someone opens my shared clip?

If they have YAPP installed, the app opens and plays the clip automatically, stopping at the end. If they don't have the app, the clip opens in a web player where they can listen directly in their browser.

Transcription & Key Moments

How does transcription work?

YAPP can transcribe podcast episodes so you can read along or search for specific content. Tap the transcript icon on an episode to start transcription. The audio is processed on our secure servers using AI, and the transcript is then stored locally on your device.

What are Key Moments?

Key Moments are AI-generated highlights that identify the most important parts of an episode. After transcription, YAPP analyzes the content to find key discussion points, making it easy to jump to the parts that interest you most.

Can I tap on the transcript to jump to that point?

Yes! Tap any part of the transcript and playback will jump to that exact moment in the episode. This makes it easy to relisten to specific sections.

Settings & Customization

Where do I change app settings?

Global settings can be changed on the Account page (tap your profile icon in the header). These settings apply to all podcasts by default, including playback speed, skip intervals, and download preferences.

Can I customize settings for individual podcasts?

Yes! Each podcast can have its own custom settings. Go to the podcast's show page, tap the settings icon, and adjust settings like playback speed, auto-download, and notifications. These override your global settings for that specific podcast.

Does YAPP work with CarPlay / Android Auto?

Your subscriptions, playback progress, downloads, and transcriptions are stored locally on your device. For transcription, audio is temporarily processed on our servers but is not retained. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete downloaded episodes?

Go to Library → Downloaded, swipe left on an episode and tap Delete. You can also tap on a downloaded episode and use the delete option in the episode details.

Can I export my subscriptions?

The app isn't finding a podcast I'm looking for

YAPP searches the Apple Podcasts directory. If a podcast isn't listed there, it won't appear in search results. You can try adding the podcast's RSS feed URL directly if you have it.
